Patient Information
Background Information
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires four additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Drs. Cifelli and Szumita treat a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial region. They practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with expertise ranging from wisdom tooth removal and implants to techniques designed to rebuild bone structure. Our doctors can also treat facial injuries, and fractures.
We offer multiple types of anesthesia including nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas”, oral sedation, and IV sedation. Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation in our state-of-the-art office setting. The doctors undergo rigorous training in anesthesia during their rescidency. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
Surgical Staff
The surgical staff at Northeast Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced surgical assistants, who assist during IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well versed in healthcare and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.
